Palo Alto Junior Zoo

The first children’s museum West of the Mississippi was founded in Palo Alto in 1934 by Josephine O’Hara. As the Palo Alto Junior Museum grew to include a mini-zoo 44 years ago in 1969, it never intended to be the biggest or best known zoo on the  West Coast. And it never has become that. But what Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo has managed to do is educate and inspire thousands of children and adults in an intimate setting.
