Why would anyone pay $375 general admission for 3.5 hours of car viewing? That’s over $100/hour! With every car show there’s a story and once you hear it, you understand that cars aren’t just objects to get you from Point A to B — at least that’s true at Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance, held on August 20, 2017.  Sure, there’s a certain charm to California classics such as free-to-see Woodies at the Beach at City College in Santa Barbara July 21-23, but that’s a different story.

Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

  • Isotta Fraschini, Italy’s most opulent automobile brand, is featured in 2017, along with Castagna Coachwork, Ferrari Major Race Winners and Ferrari One-off Spéciales.
  • Corrado Presto (pictured, top 2 photos,) owns Garage Corrado southwest of Milan, Italy, which houses the Isotta Fraschini marque’s complete factory archives.  The 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance features a rare 1901 Isotta bare chassis in one of the Isotta Fraschini classes, the 1947 and 1948 Isotta Fraschini 8C Monterosas in the Postwar Grand Touring class, along with a wide variety of Tipo 8As in the Isotta Fraschini Castagna Coachwork Open and Closed Classes. • Leading up to Pebble Beach Concours are five days of car displays, auctions and events.
