California has the largest Polynesian population of any mainland state in the  U.S., though it is relatively small compared to other ethnicities and cultures. There is nothing little about festivals that celebrate traditional dance, however. Showcased through music and songs, these spectacular competitions and events will make you say, “Wow!”

What a treat to see staged events that include colorful headdress, skirts, loin cloths, and the most beautiful, flowing hair worn by  women and girls!  Top dance performers internationally live in California, recognized for its ‘Aloha’ spirit and gracious audiences that welcome the entertaining shows. There is no official count as to the number of festivals hosted in cities throughout the state but here are several  SeeCalifornia.com favorites:

  • LONG BEACH Tiki Beach Festival Aug. 24-25, 2013
  • SAN FRANCISCO Aloha Poly Fest Aug. 31-Sep. 1, 2013
  • LONG BEACH E Hula Mau Aug. 30 – Sep. 1, 2013
