This is another one of those weekends in which they rest of the world calls us Californians fruits and nuts. But that’s a good thing! We are the top producer of nuts (such as almonds) and proud of it. This weekend in Newberry Springs, Calif. celebrate the pistachio nut at the Pistachio Festival on Nov. 1, 2014. Pictured is the World’s Largest Pistachio Nut, located NOT in California, but in Alamogordo, New Mexico at McGinn’s Pistachio Tree Ranch.
On this very same weekend, the Pomegranate Festival takes place in Madera, Calif. on November 1. Also a free festival event, the annual gathering at Madera Municipal Airport includes a fun run, food contests and lots of live entertainment!
