When I moved to California many years ago from the Midwest, I was amazed at how people liked to get dressed up and pretend they were someone else. My sister not only played the part of her character in all her Halloween costumes she selected, she also spent tons of money dressing a part for Renaissance faires.

Anyone who’s lived in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, etc., knows that summers can be sticky-hot and not really fun to wear more than the lightest clothing as you feel you’re going to pass out from the heat. But there are plenty of places in California where you’ll be fine putting on costumes and playing pretend in the summertime. Yep, California has some of the best weather in the world — and, thanks to that, you can wear costumes to festivals most any time!
