Are you struggling with the usual issues — health, wealth, harmony and lack of it such as poor health, not enough money and arguing or bad feelings and unhappiness deep inside your soul? You may have the blues — and you are not alone. Americans (and Californians) live in one of the richest countries in the world but recent studies show:

  • More than 50% of the population feels stressed
  • 47% of adults (double the number affected a few decades ago) feel lonely
  • People are zoning out, focused on their gadgets
  • The use of antidepressant drugs has surged over 400% in the last decade
  • More than 60% of adults have no emergency savings and less than $1,000
  • The majority of Americans are overweight or obese

The list goes on and on, but for anyone able to get out on a Saturday and soak up some sun, there are many events and festivals in California to lift your spirits. While the feel-good effects aren’t necessarily permanent or even long lasting, attending an event can help your well being. Some are free or affordable, you’ll be surrounded by people who are there to have fun, for sure, and just being out and about helps burn calories and contribute to health.
