Scenic Amador County Steeped in History

AMADOR COUNTY:  Amador County is one of California’s most scenic and rustic destinations. History has not fully been lost or forgotten in the county that sprang into being out of the California Gold Rush. Thanks to the efforts of those who recognize the value of preserving a unique heritage found nowhere else on Earth, the hotel accommodations have soul, the special events glow, and everything seems extra vivid and alive. The region in the Sierra mountains unsurprisingly has four distinct seasons, and elevations ranging from 200 feet in the western part of the county, to more than 9,000 feet in the east. Two major highways: Historic Highway 49 that travels north to south, and scenic State Highway 88, a perfect and leisurely alternative gateway to upper Amador County and the Lake Tahoe region, provide enough material to write about in your next novel.
