California State Symbols

Pictured is the state flower, California poppy, which is celebrated at the annual California Poppy Festival. If you’re finding it hard to keep up with California’s state symbols set by law, rest assured few people actually know them all. We just got a new one, in fact. The result of California Lichen Society’s lobbying resulted in the nation’s first official state lichen, lace lichen, bringing our state symbols up to 37. See California’s State Symbols
