The Dog Olympics

In 2013 Banana Joe AKA “GCH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari,” an Affenpinscher from Massachusetts won “Best in Show” at the 137th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

In 2013 Californians “stole the show” at the Westminster Kennel Club’s Dog Show in Madison Square Gardens (New York City). Will they walk away with the most Best of Breed Awards (27 out of 185), the most group placements (7 out of 28), and the most total awards (75 out of 647) at the world’s greatest dog show? It’s going to be a challenge on Feb. 10-11, 2014 to beat last year’s record, but that’s the exciting part about the olympics of the dog world. Held at the same time the Winter Olympic Games take place in Russia, the dog show pre-dates the invention of the light bulb, the automobile, the building of the Golden Gate Bridge, Washington Monument, the invention of basketball and the establishment of the World Series, but not the Olympic Games.

The dog stars who walk the New York carpet not only must maintain perfect weight and physique, their hair and coats are arguably more beautiful than celebs at Hollywood’s premier red-carpet event, the Academy Awards. For those who love dogs, you can watch the dog olympics streamed on westminsterkennelclub.org
