The winning-est jockey of Thoroughbred horse racing of all time, Canadian born Russell Blaze, is  close to reaching a landmark 12,000 wins–many believe he’ll do it in the summer of 2013 as Northern California horse racing begin  at the Alameda County Fair. If he doesn’t reach the mark there (24 wins short, to date,) he likely will do so at another California county fair where racing occurs. Known for his integrity, passion and hard work, Baze has a very proud wife and four kids who are rooting for him to set this incredible record.  To follow his progress and see if he makes it, race times are June 20-23, June 27-June 30, and July 4-7, 2013. The 55-year old jockey was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1999.  Significant Thoroughbreds ridden by Baze include Lost in the Fog, Hawkster, Lexicon, Cause to Believe, Tricky Trevor, Bold Chieftain, Chocolate Candy, Lite Light, and Both Ends Burning and significant victories include Bay Meadows Handicap (3), Oak Tree Invitational Stakes (2), Oklahoma Derby, Lane’s End Stakes, King’s Bishop Stakes, Sunshine Millions Dash, Churchill Downs Handicap, California Oaks, and the Sunshine Millions Classic.
