Super Bow Weekend in California will be filled with gatherings around bars and in homes…lots of chips, dips, BBQs and TV watching. But like Thanksgiving, there’s an anti-couch potato sentiment among the population seeking something else to do on a day in which much of the nation is riveted to their screens.

Here are some non-Super Bowl weekend options:

  • Super Bowl Weekend races and marathons in California take place in over 30 cities!
  • Take a whale watching trip— boats depart the California coast in over a dozen places.
  • Go wine tasting–California has 107 of the 188 AVAs established in the U.S. and 2,843 registered wineries, according to the California Wine Institute.
  • Visit the mountains to ski.
  • Visit the beach to play in the sand.
  • Take a unique ride…whether it’s by train, bicycle, pedal bike, hot air balloon or biplane, adventure awaits on this Super Bowl Weekend.
