From the Durham Threshing Bee at Patrick Ranch Museum June 6-7, 2015, to Enchanting Sweet Peas’ Farm Open House on June 7 in Sebastopol, the public is invited to get close and personal with farmers, their work and the fruits of their labor ranging from vegetables and fruits to meat, dairy and ornamentals such as flowers and plants. There are many exciting opportunities this year to get to know your farmers and food sources. The biggest event celebrating agriculture is the Farm to Fork Festival in Sacramento planned for Sept. 26. Last year over 35,000 people came to the Capitol for the big shindig!  Here are a few farm festivals that we know about and surely more to come!

AGRITOURISM! What is it? There are three general classifications:

1. On the Farm activities such as kayaking, horseback riding available regularly
2. Food Based – U pick, farm to table dinners offered seasonally according to crops
3. Festivals & Events – Barn Dances, Hoedowns, Day on the Farm special one time events
