Unique Marathons Worth the Trek in California

People like to run at California marathons. In addition to the challenge of making it through a course which may include mountain elevations, California’s climate & scenery really are a plus, compared to places such as Boston. Among the favorites for visitors to the state is the classic L.A. Marathon known for its city setting and fantastic weather. However, there are just some amazing views when your run over the famous bridges of Big Sur Coast and Golden Gate or tackle the spectacular scenery from vistas above in Catalina Island, Berkeley’s Grizzly Trail and the amazing Muir Woods. For deserts, it doesn’t get any dryer than distance races at Calico Ghost Town and Death Valley’s Borax.  Here are over 30 marathons from now to May, and several races to get you started below:
