Begonia Aquatic Parade

The annual Capitola Begonia Festival on Labor Day Weekend Sept.1-4, 2017, features the spectacular parade of flower floats appearing in the bay next to some of the world’s best surfing waves.  The beach event includes a sand sculpting contest, games, and four days of fun in a laid-back Santa Cruz County beach town. Capitola got its modern start as a tourist escape and remains one of the Bay Area favorites for beach vacations. If you fall in love with Capitola by the Sea, don’t beat yourself up when you discover that the average home with all the basics costs more than $1 million.  It’s worth every penny if you can afford it!

Paul Bunyan Days Parade

Fort Bragg’s Paul Bunyan Days Sept.1-4, 2017 celebrates the lumberjack lifestyle with a burly man, Paul Bunyan, carrying an ax down the Main Street of town in the annual parade, part of four days of entertainment. A pie sale, ugly dog contest, firemen’s water fight and log rolling contest are a few of the festival’s fun events — it’s a blast!

Bigfoot Days Parade

Willow Creek’s annual Bigfoot Days Parade Sept.2, 2017 is part of the annual festival that celebrates the Sasquatch. It’s the hairy, ape-like creature that many have spotted in the redwood forests surrounding the scenic city featuring some of the world’s tallest trees! The parade is a wacky event where you never know exactly what you’ll see, though a Bigfoot sighting is assured. Games in Veterans Park during the day include old-fashioned egg tosses, sack races, and other great fun for all ages.
