Walnut King in Walnut Creek

Who doesn’t love the walnut? It’s a well known fact that the California walnut is King. Celebrate the walnut at Walnut Creek Walnut Festival September 18-21, 2014.
California walnut production accounts for 99% of the commercial US supply and 75% of world trade, and though the drought has created concern among farmers, the 2014 walnut crop is forecast at a record level. Growers used surface water where available and groundwater when necessary to provide adequate water supply to the trees. Weather conditions during the growing season were mild and crop quality excellent with low disease and insect pressures. The 2014 crop harvest is expected to start early.
