Friday afternoons can get a little crazy and nowhere is that more true than Sunset Beach, California, where a guy strolling along next to busy Pacific Coast Highway wears a Mark V diving helmet. Turn the corner onto Pacific Avenue and another character is decorating the greenbelt with carved pumpkins that spell out SUNSET BEACH.

OK, it’s Halloween so this is all very normal. It turns out that Sunset Beach hosts an annual Halloween event, “PEANUTS, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” If you happen to be in town, the festival takes place on Oct. 28, 2017, 6-10 p.m. at Sunset Beach Community Center, 16861 12th Street.
