Mission Inn Hotel & Spa Festival of Lights merchandise booth on Main St. & Mission Inn Ave.
It all begins with the flip of a switch, usually shortly after Thanksgiving. The Switch-On Ceremony is presented by Duane and Kelly Roberts, owners of The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa. Riverside's downtown is instantly illuminated with four million+ twinkling lights and spectacular fireworks!
Millions of dazzling holiday lights, the world's largest manmade mistletoe measuring 12' x 8', horse-drawn carriage rides, freshly fallen snow, an elaborately decorated Christmas tree in the hotel lobby, appearances by Santa Claus, and options to book a hotel room, dine, and enjoy festival events are presented as an annual gift to the community from property Owners Duane and Kelly Roberts who saved the historic landmark from destruction in 1992.
The City of Riverside has adopted The Mission Inn's Festival of Lights as a citywide initiative with a vision of a Dickensian holiday spectacle featuring lights and decorations throughout downtown Riverside, an outdoor ice-skating rink on the Main Street pedestrian mall, holiday vendors and family-friendly entertainment such as the fireworks display to launch Festival of Lights.
At the prominent downtown attraction, the Mission Inn, proprietors plan their annual landmark lighting display months ahead of the November unveiling. (festivaloflightsca.com)
In addition to the lights, live holiday entertainment along Main Street brightens up the festive holidays in Riverside.- riversideca.gov/fol/
