With thousands of art galleries and museums throughout California, there's generally an art venue that will appeal to most critics. World class collection spanning the globe and centuries exist in California's major cities--Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego. Some of our favorites include The Getty, Getty Villa, Los Angeles Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, De Young Museum, Timken Museum and San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art.
In addition to major museums (some offer free days or free admission,) you may find yourself in the center of an art community or arts district. Cities known for their concentration (per capita) of galleries include Laguna Beach and Carmel. Be sure to visit these special cities and tour the galleries, or attend art events held weekly, monthly and annually.
