Laguna Beach, Calif.--
Known for the public art around every
bend, one of the less obvious spots to
uncover some great art is at the classy
Montage Resort & Spa in Laguna Beach.
The public has easy access to dine at
the hotel and wander its beaches that
are public. If you prefer not to eat at
the Montage, you can park at the public
parking garage adjacent to the hotel on
Wesley, and wander over to see the
fabulous aquamarine mural of sea
turtles, fish and ocean life.
The mural is even visible on whale
watching excursions off shore departing
from nearby Dana Point. Laguna Beach has
a passion for the sea with over 25
beaches, and one resident known around
the world for his ocean-themed artwork--Wyland.
Wyland has a gallery/shop on Coast
Highway north of the Montage. Be sure to
drop by his gallery and check out the
fantastic art and gifts you can buy. But
for those who love sea life, tile work
and the colors blue & green, do check
out the fabulous mural at Montage Resort
that lines a wall beneath a swimming
pool and lawn chairs where guests relax
to views of the ocean, minus views of
this great tile art piece!
For other art in Laguna Beach, check
out the
Sawdust Festival
annual event held June through the last week in August.
