Alameda is located in the County of Alameda, which includes popular
Berkeley, Oakland, Pleasanton and San Leandro.
Made up of over 12 sq. miles, and nearly 60% of that being water, the
city includes the Southshore separated from the Alameda Island proper by a
lagoon. Not all of Alameda Island is part of the City of Alameda, however.
The small Coast Guard Island between Alameda Island and Oakland is also part
of Alameda and is the home of Integrated Support Command Alameda.
