105 Year Old Driver Passes California DMV Test

When you hear about 105-year old Edythe Kirchmaier passing her driver’s test to get her license renewed, it’s a novelty and reason to celebrate. This spunky Santa Barbara (top 100 retirement places) California lady who drives to Goleta where she volunteers says she has a perfect driving record — and no accidents, speeding tickets or parking violations for 85 years! What’s her secret? Being positive is the secret to staying young, she says, and helping others has served Kirchmaier well for over 40 years. With a Facebook page to promote her favorite cause, the oldest known member of the FB community has a 105th birthday campaign in which she asks for donations to Direct Relief International. The non-profit seeks to improve the health and lives of people affected by disaster, poverty and civil unrest in the U.S. and around the globe. Kirchmayer and her deceased husband traveled to other countries and spent several years living abroad as volunteers for the organization.
