TO See Lights on the Central Coast, California

Do you like to see twinkling, shining, sparkling, pulsating lights that penetrate the dark and brighten the night? You are not alone.  Central Coast, California is quite old fashioned when it comes to holiday lights.

  • In Oxnard Historic District you can see the lights on rows of Victorian homes during December (left photo).
  • In Grover Beach (right photo) there’s a light decorating contest.
  • In Salinas you can enjoy La Posada each year at Steinbeck National Center where students from the Youth Orchestra of Salinas will process down Main Street, singing traditional songs Holiday songs on Dec. 14, 2012. National Steinbeck Center offers snacks, dance and pinatas for the kids (steinbeck.org).
  • In Monterey you can enjoy the candle-lit Christmas in the Adobes at Monterey State Historic Park, Dec. 7-8, 2012, 5-9 p.m. (parks.ca.gov).
