3 Great Beach Strolls on California Coast

Published on: September 25, 2012

Anyone living at a California beach (or visiting) knows that summer can be a bummer. Crowds make the exercise regimen less enjoyable. Some people simply give it up till September comes around. Now’s the time to dive back in to  some incredible beach strolls. For travelers, it’s a great pick-me-up to those long car drives of hours on end without exercise.

Three of our favorite places to walk along beach paths include:

  • Pacific Grove – shown in the photo, the scenic sea and Monterey Bay provide a backdrop for some of the most romantic strolls or simply inspirational, head-clearing walks you’ll find along the coast. Pacific Grove is located in Monterey County.
  • Balboa Island – wrapping around this treasure of an island is a paved walking path designed for pedestrians. The walk around the entire island is over a mile of exercise, with dazzling sparkles of light in the bay waters as boats and yachts bob gently to the waves. You can shop, dine or sip iced coffee drinks at the local Starbucks on Marine Ave. after you’re done walking at this treasured Orange County beach location.
  • Oceanside – a paved path at this San Diego County beach is great for bicyclists, joggers, roller bladers and easy walkers. Plan it during the Thursday evening Sunset Market, a street fair near the California Surfing Museum,  and you’ll have added bonus of entertainment to finish a perfect sunset stroll!
