Nature is filled with all kinds of interesting creatures such as the Naked Mole-rat. The East African desert rodent is neither a mole or rat, though it has a skinny rat-like tail. These little mammals have practically no hair but don’t need it to protect their skin since they spend most their time underground, hiding from the hot desert sun. In zoos they mature at 1 year and typically live up to 30. The Naked Mole-rat display is at the Children’s Zoo in San Diego Zoo.
