Pictured is Artist Bill Anderson’s tribute to Harbor House Cafe, a restaurant that never closes, not even on Christmas Day. The 24/7 diner on Pacific Coast Highway in Sunset Beach, Calif. sits next to a funky water tower house, and is just a block from the beach and Pacific Ocean.

Resources & tips for dining out:
1. You are not alone. Millions of Californians are also looking for a meal so prepare to wait in line to get a table.
2. Try “chain.” The bigger restaurant chains know that Christmas is a busy day.
3. Try “hotel”. Hotel restaurants seldom close due to guests’ expectations of dining on-site.
4. Try “airport”. Metropolitan airports seldom close and their selection of restaurants is constantly improving.
5. Try “theme park”. Check before going.
6. Grocery store deli — sliced turkey, cold cuts, frozen – heat up, etc.
7. Don’t wait too late. Some restaurants and grocery store open, then close early to let the employees have Christmas with their families.
