Two California Chambers of Commerce host food festivals that have nothing to do with California-grown fruits and nuts. Isleton Spam Festival (isletonchamber.com) on Feb. 27, 2016 takes the blended meat product made out of chopped pork & ham, and challenges chefs to make it taste delicious. Guests can also chomp it down straight in the eating contest. Yum! Even more popular is the Central Valley Pizza Festival (lemoorechamberofcommerce.com) April 15-17 in Lemoore. Pizza tossing eating contests get a warm reception at this extremely popular (and tasty) food event. There’s bad news for Spam fans, however… there are no Spam-topped pizzas on the menu in Lemoore.
