A Tale of 2 Surf City Weekend Music Festivals
Surf City Music Festivals: Pictured left & center is Santa Cruz Mountain Sol Festival held in a beautiful meadow surrounded by redwood trees. Pictured right is Sundown Music Festival held at Huntington State Beach, featuring a “Big Kids” playground with inflatable water slides, ziplines, fully stocked bars and Electronic Dance Music.
Instead of Santa Cruz “Sol” (which can mean music or sun,) Huntington Beach’s “Sun”down Festival comes ahead of a tourism campaign branding HB as the “Soul of SoCal”. While the tussle over who’s the REAL Surf City may be nearly forgotten, Santa Cruz was branded “The Soul of Surfing” by the Salinas Valley Tourism and Visitors Bureau (soulofca.org) over a year ago, so there should be no stepping on toes thankfully.
