Covering the Queen Mary ScotsFestival February 18-19, and other such events in California throughout the year is fun but poses a challenge. Being a proud Scotsman without an accent is like being a baseball player without a glove or a football athlete without strength. I possess a Scottish name and my ancestors were famous warriors going back in time. But what I lack most is an accent or dialect. No matter if I’m in a Scottish kilt complete with bagpipe, without the accent, I’m just not capturing the proper flavor of the old country.
Bless the Internet. I recently discovered how to speak in a Scottish accent, thanks to illustrations on wikihow.com. Youtube videos also demonstrates Scots speaking.
