You’ve probably never heard of Mike Flynn, Knight Smart, and Charles Bussey, but thousands of kids have them to thank (plus many more) for the annual East Sacramento Pancake Breakfast & Easter Egg Hunt which takes place this year on April 15, 2017.
What inspires individuals to volunteer? Sometimes a friend asks for help, or maybe you feel like giving back. Whatever the reason, the need for volunteers is great. In the case of East Sacramento Kiwanis Club (eastsackiwanis.com), the Pancake Breakfast is a fundraiser while Egg Hunts are directed by its sponsored youth and Circle K Club at Sac State. Kiwanis clubs all over California, the U.S. and approx. 90 countries offer opportunities to get involved. The majority of egg hunts in California are made possible by volunteers so if this is your interest, contact local planners and see if you can help out.
Another one-time project for volunteers not looking for extended commitment is Earth Day. California State Parks (calparks.org/help/earth-day/) is looking for volunteers at more than 30 parks & beaches throughout the state.
