San Diego touts the biggest balloon parade in the U.S. with more than 25 big balloons featuring cartoon characters, holiday symbols such as Gingerbread Man and Snowman, and some very special hometown icons such as The Cat in the Hat. The parade on Dec.28, 2017 is part of a full day festival of marching bands, 5K Run and Poinsettia Bowl football game at SDCCU Stadium.

Big Bay Balloon Parade which begins at 10 a.m. along the Waterfront is especially fun because tourists who plan ahead can volunteer to hold balloon tether lines and march in the parade.
