Signature City Events Like LA Pride, Fairfax Festival

The city that gave porn star Stormy Daniels the Key to the City recently, celebrates one of two signature city events with the return of L.A. Pride June 9-10, 2018. After a hiatus in 2017 to hold a Resist March, the splashy Pride Parade returns on Sunday, complete with fanfare, confetti and drag queen regalia. The first city in the U.S. to ban fur sales, is also home to the annual West Hollywood Carnaval on Halloween.
Other Signature City Events
- Fairfax Festival June 9-10. The Marin County incorporated town hosts an annual homespun celebration which in the past has included local bands such as Big Brother and the Holding Company. Like West Hollywood, the town takes a stance on nationwide issues such as opposition to smart meters, GMO foods and plastic one-time use bags.
- Merced County Fair June 6-10 bills itself as The Biggest Show in Town. While some complain that there’s nothin’ to do in Merced, this annual event is the signature celebration of music, motor sports, thrill rides, food and local ag.
- Amador Flower Farm Daylily Days in Plymouth, a city of less than 1,500 people, proudly sits as the gateway to the Shenandoah Valley. Guests can see more than 1 million flowers in bloom at this free, annual celebration.
- Durham’s Patrick Ranch Farm Day and Threshing Bee.
- Playboy Jazz Festival June 9-10, 2018 in Hollywood is an annual signature event at the famed Hollywood Bowl.
- Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic June 9-10 in Windsor celebrates THE GLOW this beloved wine country region is known and recognized for.
