R.I.P. — “Peace on Earth” now Rests in Peace as the Magical Christmas Caroling Truck (1984-2018) has called it quits after 34 years. The lighted, 62-foot truck and caravan of thousands of singers and dancers spread Christmas cheer through the streets of North Hollywood, Toluca Lake and Burbank each year on Christmas Eve.
Nothing lasts forever but there still remain many holiday sing-alongs throughout California. Some of them have even longer traditions such as the Mountain View Sing Along Messiah celebrating its 51st year in 2018. Celebrating 38 years are Redwood Empire Sing Along Messiah in Santa Rosa, and Annual Messiah Sing-Along at the eye-popping Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
If the music moves you, then get ready for awesome settings to elevate the experience such as the annual Christmas Caroling Sing-along at Mt. Helix Park in La Mesa. Built as a memorial to Mary Carpenter Yawkey, Mt. Helix Park with its huge outdoor Amphitheatre nestled into the hillside below the magnificent 35-foot-tall Christian Cross crowning this 1,370 foot mountain peak, is one of the most recognized landmarks in San Diego County.
