Published on: November 16, 2012

A 60 foot fir tree was selected from a forest near Redding (Northern California) then cut, transported and is being decorated at the Capitol in Sacramento. The beautiful, towering fir was brought to the Capitol on an over-sized flatbed of a truck, traveling south on Highway 5 on Nov. 7, 2012.  The tree is one of the exciting holiday attractions that make Sacramento such a wonderful place to visit during December. Other events include daily singing inside the Capitol Museum, an Old Sacramento Tree Lighting on Nov. 21, Old Sacramento (oldsacramento.com) Raley’s Theatre of Lights held November 21-December 31, 2012. Each night a symphony of lights, sounds, and visual effects transports the audience back to a time when the beloved poem “The Night Before Christmas” was first introduced in Sacramento in 1857. The Old Sacramento Theatre of Lights features two 20-minute light shows throughout the holiday season with two performances every night, Thursdays through Sundays.
