San Diego to Sacramento Bike Race
When the annual AMGEN Tour of California cycling race launches in mid-May the eight day event that starts in Southern California and ends near the California State Capitol will pass through many cities to the delight of hundreds of thousands of fans. Counties participating in the momentous race include San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Monterey, San Joaquin, El Dorado, Sacramento and Sonoma. Each year since its inception in 2006 California cities have been selected to host the event, providing sponsorship money, hotel accommodations and other services to support the massive race. Participating cities often try to bring it back because of the entertainment and marketing value of this high-profile media event.
