Angels Camp Museum is Like Being in the Gold Rush – Almost!

Published on: February 04, 2014

ANGELS CAMP MUSEUM — With one of the largest stagecoach and buggy collections in the nation, you can wander and get the feel of being in California during the gold rush. But that’s only the beginning of exploring Angels Camp’s incredible museum. During Gold Rush Days and other living history events docents and re-enactors bring the 1800s to life, back to a time when several thousand  miners camped in the area, dined, shopped and spent some of their earnings in the burgeoning town. Angels Camp Museum contains a blacksmith shop, carpentry shop, gold panning, the Hogarth Stamp Mill, print shop and textiles exhibit, as well as the state’s oldest, still-standing schoolhouse. Many know Angels Camp for the famed Jumping Frog Jubilee held at the county fair each May. But there’s a lot to see and the museum is among the top 3!
