Atascadero Icon 100 Years Later

Left photo: Administration Building Civic Center Atascadero designed by Bliss & Faville of San Francisco 100 years ago. Right photo: Same building today after completed restoration in the aftermath of the 2003 San Simeon Earthquake. It is on the list of National Register of Historic Places. Following the earthquake this civic building had been closed until rehabilitation began in June of 2011. Reconstruction proceeded under FEMA guidelines including the re-installation of original masonry, which was cleaned and repaired before reapplication to the revitalized structure. Dome reinforcement and stabilization  of both the existing foundation beneath the original footings and the building exterior was required.  Pfeiffer Partners was the architect and Bernards of San Fernando provided the construction management.
