Azaleas and spring are unbeatable for garden-lovers. As Rhododendron relatives, Azaleas thrive in California, Oregon, Washington, Florida, the Carolinas, Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri. Since they sometimes share peak bloom time and growing conditions, Azaleas often play a role in Rhododendron Festivals, as well. South Gate Azalea Festival celebrates its 50th annual community event with something special to honor the fifty year history. This Friday night, March 20, 2015 near the Carnival, the City hosts a Fireworks Display in honor of the festival’s long history with the city. The public is invited to share in the legacy of this tradition.
