The temperature may be a little nippy this weekend when Balboa Park December Nights arrives, but the love that emanates from this annual celebration takes over your senses and you feel warmth in your heart. A magnificent musical and lighting experience on the Organ Pavilion Stage includes the annual Del Cerro Baptist Church performing the “Christmas Story Tree.” The Music Department of the church has performed in Balboa Park since 1986, rehearsing year-round to bring this unparalleled production of the Christmas Story in music and diorama. It takes them an entire week to set up a metal frame, cover it with pine branches and decorate the stage for their shows December 6, 2013 at 8 p.m. and December 7 at 8:50 p.m.  San Diego’s largest free two-day festival in Balboa Park includes tons of entertainment & free museums (5 to 9 p.m.) and performances on 4 main stages & inside many museums. The event welcomes over 350,000 people each year! See: balboapark.org/decembernights
