There are millions of letters mailed to Santa Claus at the North Pole each year. What happens to those special messages from boys & girls all over the world?  In the United States the U.S. Postal Service has a 101-year old program, Letters to Santa, in which postal “elves” go through letters and sort out those expressing serious need. You can participate by adopting letters and supplying items. In California there are about half a dozen post offices in the program. If you would like to learn more, here is the list.

Fact:  Hundreds of thousands of children of all ages send letters to “Santa Claus, North Pole, Alaska.” Unless these letters contain a complete Alaska address, they remain in the area they were mailed.

Dear Santa:

  • What if my house has no chimney?
Answer: If your home does not have a chimney, Santa will use some of his special magic dust to make a chimney appear. Once he is finished and back up the chimney, it will automatically disappear.
  • How will you find me if we are visiting someone and not at our home on Christmas Eve?
Santa will use his magical kid locator. Once he locates a child who is at a different address or location the sleigh will automatically take Santa to the new location.
  • Does Santa really read every letter?
Absolutely, Santa takes every letter he gets, and he sits down next to his fireplace and reads each and every one of them.
