Beach Primer: San Diego

Published on: May 03, 2014

img If you’re going to pick a single beach city to explore this summer, San Diego defines beach vacations in California. With 17 miles of coastline and 4,600 acres around Mission Bay Park, San Diego offers a wide variety of beaches. Each beach has its own vibe but Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Children’s Pool, La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shores and Blacks (nude beach) all have one thing in common–San Diego’s Big Easy attitude. The vibrant city with over a million residents is a bustling metropolis, no doubt, but it’s really a beach town at heart.  San Diegans love the ocean, they love sports, dining, shopping, entertainment and skipping out of work for serious fun. San Diego has more hotels at or on the beach than any city in California. They range in price, quality and amenities with our favorites always being the beach resorts with tropical plants, exotic birds, boats for rent, beaches right outside the door and view rooms.  I must confess, however, I’ve never met a beach I didn’t like in California.
