Summer camps can be simply amazing, ranging from fine arts and theater arts training sessions to more down-to-earth lessons on the farm. California’s 40o+ cities do an incredible job of serving up variety in summer camp menus. Take, for instance, the City of Visalia’s Kids Culinary Academy Camp, which is all about food!  In Antioch the finer things in life might include attending a camp devoted to Aladdin, the musical. All participants will audition for and receive a role in a full scale production.

In Chico there’s a camp that takes place on a farm, complete with cows, horses, sheep, goats and farmers. Participants spend a week helping with farm duties such as feeding and grooming the barnyard critters.  Speaking of critters, Folsom is home to a municipal zoo filled with animals and there’s no better place to head for Zookeeping Camp!

In Mammoth Lakes climbing and wilderness exploration camps are valuable for those who want to enjoy their natural surroundings.  San Francisco is a different beast when it comes to exploring and there’s a camp to assist, Bay Area Navigation Camp, where participants learn how to get around the city on public transportation!  Read more…>
