There are 38 beaches in California that still allow bonfires. “Still” means that at one time visitors could simply light fires at beaches, no problem. But regulations now prohibit fires at most of California’s 435 beaches. Less than 10% still permit that enjoyable evening with friends participating in the age-old tradition in a campfire atmosphere. And, the problem with the beaches that still allow fires is that there is such great demand, people actually show up at 3 a.m. to try to snag a ring and guard it for the entire day at some beaches!
