Historic Watts Towers

The Watts Towers, one of only nine works of folk art listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is comprised of 17 sculptural pieces made of steel pipes and rods, wrapped with wire mesh, coated with mortar, and embedded with pieces of porcelain, tile and glass. Two towers are nearly 100 feet tall!  You can see the Watts Towers on a visit to Los Angeles. It is located right next to a Los Angeles Blue Line train stop.

Special events and tours throughout the year help visitors gain appreciation for the towers, as well as entertain with great music and activities. Watts Towers Day of the Drum is a  daylong celebration featuring international percussion: Latin, Japanese African, Jazz, Native American, and other drummers on September 27, 2014 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. See: culturela.org

Bones and Blues s is a concert series featuring live blues and jazz music, domino tournaments, and a hearty barbecue dinner on August 29, 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 presale.  See: wlcac.org
