Calico Ghost Town Celebrates President’s Day with Civil War

The blast of canons rings through the canyons at the annual President’s Day Weekend Civil War Re-enactment in Yermo, Calif. on February 17-19, 2012. Cost: $10 adult; $5 youth 6-15; and free for ages 5 and under. Tickets may be purchased at the gate. Location: Off I-15 at the Ghost Town Road exit, 10 miles north of Barstow. calicotown.com

The annual event invites the public to enjoy many colorful costumes, foods, unique vendors, and a walk through time to learn about America’s stormy past. In addition to this annual event, the park (which also offers camping) hosts an annual Mother’s Day Weekend Bluegrass Festival, and Egg Hunt at Easter, and other exciting entertainment throughout the year. Spring is the ideal time to visit when temperatures are mild.
