California Bucket List – Before I Die I Want To…

When visiting the Automobile Driving Museum a few days ago, one docent mentioned something he thought we should see– a large Bucket List chalkboard in his Los Angeles neighborhood (8700 block of La Tijera Boulevard) where people stop and fill in the blanks to a sentence, “Before I die I want to__________”.  Elliot Kharkats installed the board outside his Westchester home, supplies chalk, and cleans the board when it’s full. The first known bucket list board appeared in New Orleans several years ago, scribbled on the wall of an abandon house. Many write on the board that they want to be a better parent, sibling, or to volunteer

Travelers are known to work from bucket lists, too, and include destinations and experiences on their “want to” or “to do” lists.  This is especially true in California, where tourists will tell you exactly what their mission is. They want to see a beach, walk on the Golden Gate Bridge, and visit the giant redwoods where they can drive through a tree. Other list items include visits to Disneyland, the Hollywood sign, seeing a celebrity, shopping at Rodeo Drive and visiting  mountain, desert and wine destinations. Go ahead and make a bucket list if you haven’t tried it yet!
