Bastille Day is like America’s 4th of July. It is a national holiday in France on July 14, celebrating the French Revolution which challenged the corruption of the aristocratic government controlled mostly by nobility and clergy in 1789. Fete de la Federation (National Day) includes fireworks, parades, parties, food and patriotic events similar to those celebrated in the U.S. on Independence Day.
More than 9 million French descendants and immigrants live in the U.S with the majority living in California. Inspired by breathtaking surroundings, Santa Barbara is actually called the French Riviera of the U.S. It is also home to the state’s longest running & biggest French festival taking place on July 12-13, 2014.
