Of the 482 cities in California four are celebrating centennials in 2015. How are they enjoying their 100 years of incorporation?
SEAL BEACH: Seal Beach hoped for a float in the 2015 Rose Parade but was unable to raise the funds for participation. Later in the year a festival and parade are planned to commemorate the beach that once had an amusement park with thrill rides.
DELANO: Delano began the year with a ball and anticipates an exciting unveiling of Delano Downtown Breezeway Project with murals depicting historical moment and scenes.
GUSTINE: Merced County Museum announced that Gustine will be one of two county-wide celebrations July 30 – Sept. 27 (the other is El Nido School.)
AMADOR CITY: Amador City was incorporated in June 1915 but like so many municipalities its history contains significant, much older moments events such as the gold rush. With a mere 200 residents, the state’s smallest city for land area (less than one-third square mile) hasn’t listed any events on the city calendar, nor is there mention on this month’s City Council agenda.
