Roy Rogers Double R Bar Ranch in Apple Valley is the ideal setting for a cattle roundup this weekend. The Sheriff’s Posse is putting on a Cattle Drive Oct. 4 & 5, and they’ve invited the public to ride the range out around the Rogers Ranch with proceeds to benefit the Posse. Call (760) 559-4555 for info and participation.

If you haven’t heard just how serious Apple Valley is about its Western heritage, here’s a sampling of events coming your way: Equine Festival of Apple Valley at Horseman’s Center, where “It’s all about the horse!” on October 12; and Happy Trails Chili Cook-Off with 12 Years of Sizzle & Spice on October 19, 2013.
