Fantastic weather fulfills the winter promise of 75 degrees and sunshine at Southern California beaches for Martin Luther King, Jr. national holiday. That’s California dreaming at its best!
Martin Luther King, Jr. had a dream. In 1963 he presented his famous “Dream” speech to “dramatize a shameful condition” at the March on the Nation’s Capitol. King was assassinated five years later at the age 39.
50 years after his tragic death a fitting tribute to California dreaming is the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday which falls on the third Monday in January. In 2018 it lands on his date of birth, January 15.
Whether you opt for some rest and relaxation at the beach, mountain resorts, desert oasis, or take advantage of FREE national parks admission, you can also celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy with community days of service, parades and events to honor the DREAM.
