While almonds, (California’s Number 2 crop in 2012) are eaten and celebrated at the California Nut Festival in Chico, the event doesn’t favor any one particular nut over another. No, in Chico, they love all you nuts–macadamias, pistachios, pecans, walnuts and more!  The California Nut Festival held on April 20, 2013, is a wonderful event honoring the state’s nut crops along with the tasty recipes and dishes they appear in, plus great wines, brews and good times. Held on the graceful grounds of Patrick Ranch Museum, the annual event includes a day of music with fantastic bands, a farm tractor & equipment area where kids can play, an art competition, chefs’ demonstrations, vendor farm fresh foods you can buy, and tours of an historic ranch house, the beneficiary of this shindig.
